Zielona Góra ([ʑe'lɔna,gura] ; German: Grünberg in Schlesien) is a city in western Poland with 118,730 inhabitants (2004), situated in the Lubusz Voivodeship (since 1999), previously capital of Zielona Góra Voivodeship (1975-1998).

The Zielona Góra Airport is located at Babimost, north-east of the city. It is currently the 10th busiest airport in Poland. Formerly a military base, it has transformed itself into an important transport hub in Western Poland, LOT Polish Airlines currently offers daily flights to Warsaw.

The speedway motorcycle club now called ZKZ Kronopol Zielona Gora is famous not only in Poland. It has won the Polish Championship four times - in 1981, 1982, 1985 and 1991. The club was founded in 1946 with its first race on 20th of October 1946. It is commonly referred to as "Falubaz" (name of former sponsor).
Its most famous rider is Andrzej Huszcza - competing since 1975 and won Individual Polish Championship in 1982. After 30 years he left his home town club and joined PSZ, a speedway club from Poznan. Huszcza has set a number of records, including at international level.
